I originally joined APO because I was looking for a service-oriented community within Cornell, and I’m happy to report that I found just that and so much more. My big, Denise, and our family/lin (GUARD UP), have become essential during my time at Cornell. Whether it was getting tricked during big/little reveal my first semester, to attending service events and fellowships together, I have found a home within the brotherhood. As I look forward to graduation (ah!), I’ve already started to identify places where I can continue my service in a new city. APO has challenged me to always think about my impact on others, and how I can continually work to be a better member of my community. One of my favorite events this semester was a cupcake fundraiser for the Sophia Fund. Even while virtual, it was so cool to see Cornell students and the larger Ithaca community come together to spread awareness about Ithaca’s mental health initiatives (I even won the “Cupcake on a Budget Award!”). APO will always hold a special place in my heart <3
